Quick Overview

The updated Code of Practice gives guidance to all those responsible for the inspection, testing and maintenance of electric appliances.

It also provides advice on compliance with health and safety legislation. The text specifies the frequency and scope of inspections and testing in different environments.

Product Description

This Code of Practice has been revised to reflect current best practice. It gives advice on in-service inspection and testing to determine whether electrical equipment is fit for continued service or maintenance or replacement is necessary.

The main changes in this edition of the Code include clarification of which equipment is covered, additional explanation of the term ‘competent person’ and inclusion of the substitute/alternative test method. In addition there is explanation on the use of test leads and RCD adaptors and extension leads are now covered.

As many deficiencies result from the plug or the cable, new Appendices give a series of pictures which illustrate commonly-encountered deficiencies. The book contains full colour illustrations and photographs to aid use.

The Code recognises the publication of the 17th Edition of BS 7671: 2008.
