The City & Guilds 2391-10 (Inspection & Testing) Home Study Course & Written Assessment 2391-301 is aimed at electrician’s who are or have been engaged in inspection and testing and want to become certified. This qualification is also suited to electricians who are interested in furthering their career and knowledge.
Completing the City & Guilds 2391-10 (Inspection & Testing) Home Study Course & Written Assessment 2391-301 is an investment, not only are you more employable, but you can command a higher hourly rate.
This qualification is intended for experienced personnel working in the electrical industry. Although City & Guilds does not state formal candidate entry requirements, the qualification is not intended for non-qualified electricians and/or those who do not have experience in inspecting, testing and certifying electrical installations.
Candidates without this experience should seriously consider undertaking the City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in fundamental inspection, testing and initial verification (2392-10) as well as obtaining industry experience. It is also strongly recommended that candidates have achieved either the City & Guilds Certificate in the requirements for electrical installations (BS 7671 January 2008) (2382) or similar qualifications where candidates have demonstrated knowledge and understating of the 17th Edition.
This qualification is not approved for use by candidates under the age of 18, and City & Guilds cannot accept any registrations for candidates in this age group.
The City & Guilds 2391-10 (Inspection & Testing) Home Study Course & Written Assessment 2391-301 includes:
- The Requirements for Electrical Installations On-Site Guide - IEE Wiring Regulations Seventeenth Edition (BS 7671:2008)
- IEE Guidance Note 3 Inspection & Testing
- A Downloadable Home Study Course*
- The Written Assessment 2391-301 - the 2.5 hour Written Assessment 2391-301 is closed book and consists of 26 questions – 20 short answer questions (1 hour approximately) and 6 structured questions (1.5 hours approximately)
It is also recommended that Candidates have a copy of the Requirements for Electrical Installations – IEE Wiring Regulations Seventeenth Edition (BS 7671:2008) to aid study. This is available for purchase in our shop.
The aim of the Written Assessment 2391-301 is to enable the Candidate to develop the necessary technical knowledge and understanding about the inspection, testing and certification of electrical installations.
Please note that the City & Guilds 2391-10 qualification cannot be attained until this unit and the City & Guilds 2391-10 (Inspection & Testing) Practical Assessment 2391-302 unit have been completed.
Before sitting the Written Assessment 2391-301, Candidates are able to study and prepare in their own time with the Downloadable Home Study Course* eliminating the need to take additional time off work for training.
The Downloadable Home Study Course* features a Course Guide to provide Candidates with a thorough overview of the 2391 Written and Practical Assessments and how best to prepare. The Downloadable Home Study Course* includes past Exams, providing questions that cover the 6 modules in the City & Guilds Written Assessment. This allows Candidates to practice the 2391 Assessment under realistic Assessment conditions and with realistic Assessment questions. It also has comprehensive guides and illustrations on how to carry out the tests required for the Practical Assessment such as, continuity of protective conductors, continuity of ring final circuit conductors, insulation resistance, polarity, earth fault loop impedance, RCD testing and functional testing.
A minimum of 15 guided learning hours is required before sitting the Written Assessment 2391-301.
On the day of the Assessment, Candidates will be required to sign a Declaration stating that they have undertaken the minimum guided learning hours.
