The content of the City & Guilds 2382-12 (17th Edition) Exam is based on City & Guilds Candidates will require access to a copy of BS 7671 during the assessment and the examination will be based upon this document only. The aim of this unit is to enable the candidate to demonstrate that they are conversant with the IEE Wiring Regulations Seventeenth Edition BS 7671:2008 (the national standard for the electrical industry in respect of safe use and operation of electrical equipment and systems in the United Kingdom).

This qualification is primarily aimed at practising electricians with relevant experience and other allied professionals e.g. surveyors, consultants and other trades needing to update and enhance their understanding of IEE Wiring Regulations. It is also suitable for anyone wishing to demonstrate an understanding of the IEE 17th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).

It allows candidates to progress into employment or to the following City & Guilds qualifications:

• City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Fundamental Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification (2392-10)
• City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Inspection, testing and certification of electrical installations (2391-10)
• City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Design, erection and verification of electrical installations (2391-20)
• City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Building Regulations for Electrical Installation Contractors In Dwellings (2393-10)
• City & Guilds Level 4 Higher Professional Diploma in Building Services Engineering (4467-04)

There are no formal entry requirements for candidates undertaking this qualification but must be able to supply their own copy of the IET Wiring Regulations BS 7671:2008 (2011) and require a non-programmable calculator. However candidates must have the potential and opportunity to successfully gain the qualification. City & Guilds also provides the Exam Success Book specifically for this qualification.

The City & Guilds 2382-12 (17th Edition) Exam is available to candidates who have completed a minimum of 30 hours home study or undergone a recognised course in the Level 3 Award in Requirements for Electrical Installations BS7671: June 2008 (2011)

It is also available as a re-sit to candidates who did not fulfill the required levels in their first sitting of the Exam.

The City & Guilds 2382-12 (17th Edition) is a 2 hour, GOLA online exam, consisting of 60 multiple choice questions. By booking the City & Guilds 2382-12 (17th Edition) Exam, it is presumed that you have your own correct study material and have completed a minimum of 30 guided learning hours.

On the day of your Exam you will be required to sign a Declaration stating that you have undertaken the minimum guided learning hours.
